Estimating or calculating the dry weight of articles to be processed
There are two ways of
doing this. Firstly by making use of acceptable norms such as x/kg of articles per
bed/patient/room per week or day generated by the hospital or institution and translating
this into y/kg/hour of articles by type to be processed in the laundry. Secondly
by the more reliable approach of calculating the weight or number of articles to
be processed based upon actual data derived from the institution(s) to be serviced
by the laundry. Such an exercise depends upon reliable statistics being available
over a reasonable period of time.
