Why dyeing for profit? Isn't that the goal of all businesses? Yes, but if you know
what you are doing, dyeing can be one of the most profitable businesses.
Dyeing is a specialised business, which can become even more specialised if one
is an excellent dyer, who develops the business to meet the needs of a niche market.
Dyeing is also an expensive process. Therefore, if one is able to do it right first
time, every time and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction, one can command
a high price and make a lot of money. However, get it wrong and you will lose a
lot of money in time, expensive dyes and claims for damages from your customers,
those that you have left!
So, why is this a good business opportunity, if it is so risky you may be thinking?
Risk versus return. Usually applied to investments in the financial world, but no
less true in most endeavours in other areas of life, including the dyeing business.
The more specialised and skilled a service is, the fewer the number of businesses
that will provide it ? less competition = more opportunity for higher profits.
That is the crux of this business opportunity. There are a number of large, capital
intensive, commercial dyeing businesses doing professional work for big customers
such as the national retail fashion stores, who demand and get a very high level
of quality and service. But who is doing the dyeing for the smaller customers and
micro businesses such as craft marketers, home industries and cottage industries?
These customers have a real problem, because while there are smaller commercial
dyeing businesses, the quality and service is often unsatisfactory. Furthermore,
they cannot send their wares to the large dyeing houses as they are not interested
in small consignments.
This scenario creates the opportunity for small to medium dyeing businesses, who
are committed to quality and excellent customer service. This opportunity exists
all over Southern Africa, wherever there are enough small retail businesses, fashion
stores and creative cottage industries.
The trick is to start small and grow the business as your skills develop. Plough
the fruits of your success back into the business by adding more equipment slowly,
until the business reaches a comfortable size, where it is meeting its customers
needs and making a good profit - then consolidate ! Maintain that happy state of
affairs by staying successfully and profitably in your market niche.
To be successful you need the right mix of equipment, the dyes, the right management
system and of course the knowledge, dedication and professional attitude as discussed.
S.A. Cleaning Equipment has been involved in the batch dyeing industry for many
years. We have worked closely with engineering companies to produce custom built
dyeing machines in various sizes to suit a wide variety of dyeing applications.
We can cost effectively equip your business with the right equipment to suit your
plans. But what about the skills to run the business and be successful? Well to
the best of our knowledge, one cannot buy a dyeing franchise. Therefore together
with one of our successful customers we have put together a package whereby we will
supply your equipment needs and arrange for you to be trained in one of our customers
dyeing business. You will get a thorough grounding with hands on practical training.
We will introduce you to the right chemical supplier, who will also provide training
and ongoing support. You will also have the option of retaining our customer as
an ongoing consultant for as long as you require support.
Unlike a franchise, you will not receive an "operations or training manual", but
then you will not have to pay a franchise fee or ongoing royalties. You will be
charged a fee on a daily basis, but the training will be available only for as long
as you feel you need it.
If you decide to use the consultancy option, you will be charged a fee on a monthly
basis, but again, only for as long as you decide to maintain it.
Note that we cannot do feasibility studies, advise you on site locations or assist
with your business plan - That is all up to you.
What we want is successful customers and to feel that we have contributed to their
success. However, to be successful, you need to approach this business opportunity
seriously, with commitment, self-motivation, discipline and a burning desire not
to be the biggest, but to be the best. Then you will be dyeing for profit!
